Saint Lucas the Doctor – Trip to Nafplio 18/05/26

Arcadian Tours invites you to a unique afternoon pilgrimage and entertainment trip, to the impressive Holy Temple of Saint Lucas the Doctor in Leukakia, Argolis, and to the beautiful Nafplio.

🕟 Departure: 16:30 from Kolokotroni Square, Tripoli.

The first stop on our trip is the impressive Temple in Leukakia, Nafplio, one of the most special and devout churches in Greece. The temple is dedicated to Saint Lucas Archbishop of Simferopol and Crimea, the miraculous doctor and great confessor of the Orthodox Church.

Saint Lucas was born in Crimea in 1877, studied Medicine and evolved into a great surgeon and scientist. At the same time, he devoted himself to God and was ordained a priest and later a bishop. He suffered imprisonments, exiles and persecutions by the atheist regime of the Soviet Union, without ever abandoning either his faith or his medical ministry. He is considered today the patron of doctors and patients, while thousands of believers testify to miracles and interventions of the Saint in their lives. His memory is honored on June 11.

The temple in Leukakia is a unique example of Russian church architecture in Greece and was built with the care of the Holy Metropolis of Argolis. Its inauguration took place in 2017. In the area, a piece from the incorrupt heart of the Saint is kept, as well as soil from his tomb in Crimea.

The museum operating on the ground floor of the temple is also of particular interest, where personal items, medical tools, photographs and paintings of Saint Lucas are exhibited, as well as the chalice he used during his exile.

After our pilgrimage, we will depart for romantic Nafplio, the first capital of Greece. There, we will have free time to stroll through the picturesque alleys of the old town, have a coffee or meal with a view of the Bourtzi and the Palamidi, enjoying the unique atmosphere of the city.

Late at night, we will return to Tripoli, filled with beautiful images, serenity and blessing.
