Departure 16.00 in the afternoon from Kolokotroni Square for Nymfasia and the Holy Monastery of Panagia Kernitsa where we will attend the service of the Fourth Salutations of the Panagia.

Holy Monastery of Panagia Kernitsa – Arcadia

The Holy Monastery of the Dormition of the Theotokos Kernitsa is located in a lush and verdant area near Nymfasia, Arcadia, at an altitude of about 900 meters, and is one of the oldest and most important monasteries in the Peloponnese.

Its foundation dates back to the 12th century, while according to tradition, the miraculous icon of the Panagia was found inside a cave, which led to the construction of the monastery at this specific location. During the Turkish occupation, the monastery was an important spiritual and national center, offering refuge and support to the fighters of 1821.

Today, the Holy Monastery of Panagia Kernitsa impresses with its reverent environment, its beautiful architecture and the natural landscape that surrounds it, making it a beloved pilgrimage destination for faithful from all over Greece.
