Holy Monastery of Panagia Kolokotroni 08/12/25
Programme
On Monday, 8 December, we invite you to a beautiful and serene afternoon trip to the Holy Monastery of Panagia Kolokotroni, just a few minutes outside Megalopolis. A monastery small in size, but large in history, faith, and tranquility.
The Monastery was founded in the 17th century and is dedicated to Panagia, with the name “Kolokotroni” being connected to the historical and spiritual presence of the Kolokotronis family in the area. During the period of Turkish rule, it served as a refuge and place of prayer for the fighters of the Revolution, while to this day it keeps alive the tradition, nobility, and contemplative style. The katholikon of the Monastery, with its old frescoes and warm atmosphere, offers the visitor a sense of serenity and return to what is essential.
There, we will be welcomed by Father Elpidoforos, a bright and calm figure who has dedicated himself with love to the care of the Monastery and its pilgrims. With his simple and clear speech, he conveys faith in a human and warm way, while his hospitality is always something that stays in the heart.
A trip that combines blessing, history, and a beautiful winter escape just a few kilometers from Tripoli.
Return early in the evening.
