ANO DOLIANA

Our office organises an excursion to Ano Doliana to honour Saint George, in a traditional custom that has been taking place for several decades.

Ano Doliana is the summer residence and Kato Doliana the winter residence of the Dolianites. In their annual migration, the latter also brings the icon of Saint George. In memory of this, the residents every year transfer the icon from Ano to Kato Doliana, following the old paths. The icon is transported decorated and accompanied by a multitude of faithful, while blessings are chanted at the stops.

There, those who do not wish to continue the hike can board the coach.

The rest of us continue on the path to Kato Doliana.

Free time for coffee in Astros (for those who do not follow the path).

Collection of the icon in the "Louloudi" area before Proselia and then a procession to Kato Doliana where we will leave the icon inside the Church of Saint George.

Departure from Kato Doliana around 17.00.

Note: It is a good idea to wear athletic shoes, ideal for walking on a path.
