Sicily - Greek-speaking Villages

Gathering and departure for Patra/Igoumenitsa. Embarkation on the ship, check-in to the cabins and departure for the port of Bari. Overnight stay on board

Arrival in the morning in Bari. Next, we depart for the picturesque Matera. Our last stop is Reggio. Arrival, check-in at our hotel.

Breakfast and visit to the "Magna Graecia" museum where the bronze statues created by the sculptor Phidias are kept. Next, departure by ship and passage through the Strait of Messina. There, we will admire the tower with the bell tower and the astronomical clock and the cathedral. We depart for Cefalù, followed by a visit to the Piazza Duomo and the church of Roger. Next, in Palermo, we will get to know the Town Hall square, the church of Saint Catherine and the Palazzo Reale.

After breakfast, our first stop is Monreale where we will visit the cathedral with the mosaics and the Franciscan monastery. Departure for Agrigento. In the Valley of the Temples, we will admire the Temple of Concordia, the Greek-Roman quarter, the Temple of Olympian Zeus with the statue of Atlas, the temples of Hera, Demeter, Hephaestus, Asclepius and the Dioscuri (Castor and Pollux). We continue to Catania. Check-in at a hotel in the area.

Breakfast and departure for Syracuse. We will see the ancient Greek theatre, the Oratory of Dionysus, the Roman amphitheatre, the island of Ortigia where the Temple of Apollo, the cathedral, the spring of Arethusa and the castle of Maniace are located. We then continue to Mount Etna. In "Taormina" we will admire the picturesque streets with the medieval buildings and we will see the Greek Theatre.

Breakfast and our first stop for today is Taranto. The most important landmark is the cathedral and the castle of Saint Angelo. We continue to Lecce. There, we will admire the cathedral and the column of Saint Orazio, 29 meters high, which once marked the end of the Appian Way. Next, check-in at our hotel and free time.

Breakfast and departure. We will stop at Corigliano d'Otranto, where we will admire the Palazzo Comi and the castle of Corigliano with its 4 towers. Next stop in Sternatia, a village with a strong "Greek aroma". We continue with the village of Kalimera, which is also the cultural center of the area. Next stop, Alberobello. With these images, we depart for Bari, from where we will take the return ferry. Overnight stay on board.
